Dear Coda,
There are two Airports, so first:
Tegel Airport:
1. First you buy a ticket for BERLIN AB, about 2,30 €.
Then the Best, because it is the easiest way,
2. go use the BUS TXL(going to Alexanderplatz) and get off S Beusselstr. .
3. There you go down to the S-Bahn(trains) and take RING S42 to S+U TEMPELHOF.
4. There you go off the train and wait on the same gate for a S-Bahn S47 going to SPINDLERSFELD.
5. You go till SPINDLERSFELD and
6. there you can take either the TRAM 60(street-train) directing “Altes Wasserwerk” or Bus 167 directing Müggelschlößchenweg for just 1 station named Köllnischer Platz where you get off,
7. see a bridge and on right is the Penta Hotel, close to the Dahme-River.
Schönefeld-Airport:
1. You buy a ticket BC! Around 2,30 €.
2. Then you take the BUS 163 directing S SCHÖNEWEIDE, but
3. you get off at S GRÜNAU(15 min).
4. There you take the TRAM 68(street-trains) heading to S Köpenick
5. but you go off KÖLLNISCHER PLATZ(10 min).

TAXI?
You could have taken a Taxi too, but the Distance TEGEL-Hotel is way too far for a Taxi ride(40-50 bucks,and taxis are usually not that expensive in Berlin. And I think the Other one is too. But there I am not sure.
NOTE: the Bus-Drivers controls the tickets when you enter the Bus in front(it is usually permitted to enter through the back doors). And yes, you can enter the Metro, the S-Bahn-Trains and the TRAMS without showing or having tickets, but there are People checking them in the Trains here and then, makes 60 or 80 €.
And Yes: usually they don´t care if you are a foreigner. The Ticket-System is difficult to understand, but they get paid on a “headcount”, so be sure they will get your money.
After a big breath of the Famous Berliner Luft (or the air in the public-transports), you have finished your journey to the Hotel!!

es wird auch eine „stille Auktion“ geben – beide sind dazu da Geld zu sammeln für den Millie
Brother Stipendien – Fond.
Wir benötigen sowohl für die Live-Auktion als auch für die stille Auktion Dinge, die wir
versteigern können. Wir suchen Dinge, die in vielerlei Hinsicht wertvoll sind und auch typisch für
die Region, aus der Ihr kommt.

dieses ist eine kleine Erinnerung an Euch Süssigkeiten und Snacks, die für Euer Land typisch sind,

Teilnehmer der Konferenz hat so die Chance den Geschmack der Welt zu testen.
Der Zentralvereins für das Wohl der Taubstummen 1849
Das BBQ am Sonntagnachmittag im Vereinshaus dient zum ruhigen Ausklang der Konferenz. Die Teilnehmer werden vom Hotel zum Ausflugsziel im Stadtteil Heiligensee gebracht. Dort erwartet sie neben nettem Grillen mit Salaten der Niederneuendorfer See, in dem man auch baden kann. Leider gibt es keinen Strand, aber es gibt einen Steg ins Wasser. Im Preis / Person, 29 € ($41), inklusiv sind der Transport hin und zurück zum Hotel und das Essen. Die Getränke gehen extra.
Der Zentralverein ist der älteste Gehörlosenverein Deutschlands und war Gastgeber des ersten deutschen Coda-Eltern-Tages 2009 und hat uns bei der Ausrichtung enorm unterstützt. Frau Niklas, die erste Vorsitzende des Vereins und ihr Mann verlegen extra ihren Urlaub und kommen früher zurück, um die internationalen Gäste zu empfangen. 
Der Niederneuendorfer See,
The cozy closing of the conference will be a BBQ on Sunday afternoon at the clubhouse of the Zentralvereins für das Wohl der Taubstummen 1849. Attendees will be transferred from the Hotel to the destination in Berlin-Heiligensee. We will have a very nice BBQ with salads and plenty of food. The location is on the Niederneuendorfer See. Swimming is allowed, however there is no beach; access into the water is via a footbridge. The price / person, $41 (29 €), includes transportation to and from the hotel and food. Drinks can be purchased separately.
The Zentralvereins für das Wohl der Taubstummen 1849 is the oldest Deaf-club in Germany and was the host to and a big supporter for the first German Mother-Father-Deaf day 2009. Mrs Niklas, the president of the club and her husband will host the international guests.

1. Die Wilder Osten Trabi Safari
Entdeckt die letzten Relikte des Marxismus/Leninismus in Berlin!
Die Berlin Wilder Osten Trabi Safari ist DIE Insidertour für jeden, der Berlin auf anderen Pfaden als den üblichen touristischen entdecken will. Die Tour führt Euch durch einen grossen Teil des ehemaligen Ostteils der Stadt. Ihr fahrt vorbei an der East Side Gallery – dem längsten verbliebenen Mauerstück -, der weitere Weg über die Karl-Marx-Allee wird Euch zu den Tagen geplaneter Ökonomie und „real-life Sozialismus“ zurückbringen. Erlebt hautnah und persönlich die Geschichte der geteilten Stadt und ihren Weg in die Zukunft.
Und so geht’s:
Diese Tour ist für 20 Codas limitiert, d.h. es wird einen Convoy von 5 Trabis geben, in denen max. 4 Personen pro Auto sitzen, plus das Führungsauto, in dem nur der Guide fährt. Die Safari wird am Donnerstag um 8 Uhr morgens beginnen zu einem Gelegenheitspreis von 47 € oder $64.00 / Person.

Discover the last relics of Marxism/Leninism in Berlin!
The Berlin Wild East Trabi Safari is THE insider tour for everyone who wants to see Berlin off the tourist-beaten path. The tour takes you almost entirely through the former East part of the city. Driving along the East Side Gallery – the longest piece of the wall remaining – then further through Karl-Marx-Allee will take you back to the days of planned economy and real-life socialism. Experience up close and in person the history of the divided city and its way to the future.
And your Trabi adventure begins like this:
The tour is open for 20 Codas, this means that there will be a convoy of 5 cars, each with max. 4 persons, plus the leading car. The safari will start at 8 am on Thursday, at the bargain price of $64.00 or 47 € / person.

2. Die Bootsfahrt entlang der Spree
Entdeckt Berlin vom Wasser aus!
Während dieser 3-stündigen Bootsfahrt werdet Ihr die wichtigsten Sightseeingpunkte Berlins kennenlernen.
Die „La Belle“ wird ein „CODA-boot“ an diesem Tag zu einem Gelegenheitspreis von 45 € oder $61.00 / Person werden. Bis zu 40 Codas können an diesem Ausflug teilnehmen, in der Sonne relaxen und das Sightseeing aus einer anderen Sicht geniessen.
Die Tour wird auf dem Fluss Dahme um 9 Uhr morgens am Donnerstag an einem Pier in der Nähe des Hotels starten. Nachdem eine Schleuse passiert wird, um auf die Spree zu gelangen, folgt Ihr der Spree durch das neue Regierungsviertel, das historische Berlin und die Eastside Gallery. Ein Berliner Coda wird Euer persönlicher Stadtführer sein. Die Bootsfahrt endet nahe Schloss Bellevur um 12 Uhr.
2. The Boat Trip along the Spree River
Discover Berlin from the water!
During this 3-hour boat trip you will get to know all the most important sightseeing points of Berlin. The La Belle will be a CODA-boat for this day at the bargain price of $61.00 45 € /person. Up to 40 codas and their companions can join this trip. You will be able to relax in the sun and enjoy sights. The tour will start at the pier right in front of our hotel on the Dahme River at 9 am, Thursday. The tour will pass through a watergate in order to get over to the Spree River. While on this river you will travel through the new government district, historical Berlin and the Eastside Gallery. A local coda will be your personal city guide. The trip ends close to Bellevue Castle at 12 pm.

Knut
Wir haben uns für den Eisbären anstelle des “normalen” Berliner-Bären entschieden, undhier kommt die Eisbär-Geschichte: Sein Name ist Knut und Knut wurde am 5. Dezember 2006 im Berliner Zoologischen Garten geboren. Es war die erste Eisbärengeburt im Berliner Zoo seit 30 Jahren und weil er ein von Hand aufgezogenes Eisbärbaby war, gab es viel Rummel um ihn (und er lebt immer noch im Berliner Zoo).
Brandenburger Tor am Abend
Das Gebäude im Hintergrund des Logos ist das Brandenburger Tor: Es ist ehemaliges Stadttor und eines der wichtigsten Symbole von Berlin und Deutschland. Es ist das einzige verbliebene aus einer Reihe von Toren, durch die Berlin einst eingenommen wurde. Dieses Tor ist der monumentale Eingang zu Straße “Unter den Linden”, dem renommierten Boulevard, gesäumt durch Lindenbäume, welcher ehemals direkt zum Stadtpalast der preußischen Monarchen führte. Das Brandenburger Tor wurde einst als ein Zeichen für den Frieden in Auftrag gegeben. Es erlitt erheblichen Schaden während des zweiten Weltkriegs und wurde von 2000 bis 2002 komplett restauriert. Heutzutage wird es als eine der berühmtesten Sehenswürdigkeiten Europas angesehen.
Trabi
Das Auto, das vom Bären gefahren wird, ist ein sogenannter “Trabi”. Der Trabant ist ein Automobil, das im ehemaligen Ostdeutschland von der Firma VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerke Zwickau in Sachsen hergestellt wurde. Es war das am häufigsten auftretende Vehikel in Ostdeutschland und wurde auch in Länder innerhalb und ausserhalb des kommunistischen Blocks exportiert. Der Hauptverkaufspunkt war, dass es Platz für vier Erwachsene und Gepäck in einer kompakten, leichten und beständigen Hülle hatte und dass es schnell (als es vorgestellt wurde) und langlebig war. Mit seiner mittelmäßigen Leistung, dem rauchenden Zweitaktmotor und den Produktionsengpässen wird der Trabant häufig als ein Beispiel für die Nachteile der zentralisierten Planung zitiert; auf der anderen Seite gilt der Trabi mit spöttischer Zuneigung als Symbol des ehemaligen Ostdeutschland und dem Niedergang des Kommunismus (vor allem im ehemaligen Westdeutschland, da viele Ostdeutsche mit ihren Trabis nach der Maueröffnung 1989 nach West-Berlin und West-Deutschland strömten). Der Trabant war fast 30 Jahre in Produktion, ohne dass es einschneidende Veränderungen gab. In dieser Zeit wurden 3.096.099 Trabanten produziert.

Bear and Jason in front of the Brandenburg Gate
The building in the back of the logo is the Brandenburg Gate: It’s a former city gate and one of the main symbols of Berlin and Germany. It is the only remaining gate of a series through which Berlin was once entered. The gate is the monumental entry to “Unter den Linden”, the renowned boulevard of linden trees which formerly led directly to the city palace of the Prussian monarchs. It was commissioned as a sign of peace. Having suffered considerable damage in World War II, the Brandenburg gate was fully restored from 2000 to 2002. Today, it is regarded as one of Europe’s most famous landmarks.
Trabi Art on Wall Remnant
The car the bear is driving is called a “Trabi”. The Trabant is an automobile that was produced by former East German auto maker “VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerke Zwickau” in Saxony. It was the most common vehicle in East Germany, and was also exported to countries both inside and outside the communist bloc. The main selling points were that it had room for four adults and luggage in a compact, light and durable shell and that it was fast (when introduced) and durable. With its mediocre performance, smoky two-stroke engine, and production shortages, the Trabant is often cited as an example of the disadvantages of centralized planning; on the other hand, it is regarded with derisive affection as a symbol of the failed former East Germany and of the fall of communism (in former West Germany, as many East Germans streamed into West Berlin and West Germany in their Trabants after the opening of the Berlin Wall in 1989). It was in production without any significant changes for nearly 30 years with 3,096,099 Trabants produced in total.
